So what's the big deal about Latin?

Let me begin with a question--How many bones do you have in your body?

or--maybe this question? Why do we call them the ROMANce languages?

eh?

When I reached a point in life where I realized that my ambition of learning Latin myself would not be fulfilled, I resolved that I would compensate by marrying only a man who knew Latin. I expected that I'd end up a spinster, but I found my Latin lover! And today is our fifteenth anniversary!

The reason they are called ROMANace languages is that they are derived from Latin. I know that it's the easy one, but come on!
